You are a State registered nurse, preferentially coming from one of the countries of the European community, and you want to change your life in order to live a daily adventure, while belonging to a exceptional troupe and practicing your profession to the service of others.

The French Foreign Legion offers this new life of "engagement" with the assurance of living incomparable experiences and the prospect of a very interesting career.

An accelerated procedure can permit you, in less than three years, after having validated your professional civilian experience by the Office of the health and welfare action, and after having successfully attended the instruction of Sergeants to become non-commissioned officer of the Legion if you are found capable, without having to follow the long and difficult selection and instruction course of military nurses that is normally lasting more than 5 years.

As a state registered nurse, you have on the one hand the opportunity to serve in one or another of the 11 regiments of the French Foreign Legion based in France, in overseas or in foreign countries (French Guyana, Mayotte island, the Republic of Djibouti).

Thanks to your nurse speciality, you will have the opportunity, on the other hand, more than any other member of the French Foreign Legion, to accompany the combat units on the terrain, whether during short-term missions or overseas operational operations (4 months or 6 months) or during overseas sojourn with Family (duration 2 or 3 years).

Legioona ei ole enää sitä mitä se oli. He osallistuvat aika paljon ihan tavallisiin ja rauhallisisiin rauhanturvaoperaatioihin kuten esim. Kosovo. Kosovossa v. 2000 tapasin suomalaisen legioonalaisen joka oli lumiauraajana.

Heillä on toki sitten omat erikoisjoukkonsa, jotka osallistuvat enemmän operatiivisiin tehtäviin, ja suorittavat niitä Ranskan hallituksen hiljaisella suostumuksella. Nämä erikoisjoukot ovat joko laskuvarjojääkäreitä tai rannikkojääkäreitä. Ja heillä on kova ja piiitkä koulutus, ei taida tavallinen hoitsu päästä mukaan niin hommiin.

Djibouty ja Ranskan Guyana ovat ihan tavallasia koulutuskeskuksia trooppiseen sodankäyntiin. Monet brittijoukot käyttävät myös näitä paikkoja.

Legioona ei ole enää se sama mystinen armeija mitä se oli aikoinaan. Vaatimukset sinne nyt ovat ammattimaisemmat ja taustat tarkistetaan paremmin. Pakoilevia rikollisia ei oteta enää sisään. Ja palkat ovat todellakin hanurista.
